Through the lens of our creators.
Venice feels almost impossible to photograph badly. Every alley, bridge, café, and canal looks like a film set from the textured walls and faded shutters... The soft reflections, and centuries of history packed into this one-of-a-kind city.
For the 3064™ Team, it became the perfect first chapter in our Italian road trip. Starting in Venice before heading south through Florence, Montepulciano, Naples and a peak into Pompeii. This leg of the journey was all about walking, light packing, shooting constantly, and letting the narrow city alleyways shape the story.
With Yassine joining us for the Venice shoot, we spent the first evening scouting narrow streets, hidden courtyards, quiet canals, and old-world backdrops that felt cinematic, no matter the time of day.
By sunrise the next morning, we were ready to hit the streets.

CAMERA SET-UP
Our camera kit used in Venice:
• OM-3 – Stylish and Lightweight stills + documentary
shooting.
• GH7 – Main hybrid video camera.
• G9 II – Fast grab-and-go photography and BTS.
• DJI Pocket 3 – Walking shots and selfie-styled moments.
• DJI Mini 4 – Stayed in the bag (no flying in Venice)
• Assorted prime + zoom lenses for flexible run-and-gun setups.

BAG SET-UP
Venice is not a city for standing still. You’re constantly moving and there isn't a car in sight. Walking over bridges, through alleyways, onto water taxis, into cafés, back out into tiny side streets. The perfect conditions to test our smaller day-bags.
3064™ Daypack 22L: Fran’s travel companion for flights, cafés, and remote work. Laptop, chargers, documents, and daily essentials all carried comfortably between airports and train stations.
Travel / Commuter 24L + Camera Insert 12L: Ab’s primary carry system for cameras and production gear while travelling between cities.
Camera Sling 6L: Lightweight shooting setup for fast-moving street work around Venice.
Over the course of the day, we clocked more than 20,000 steps a day navigating Venice’s endless maze of bridges and alleys, exactly the kind of environment where comfortable carry and quick access matter.

VENICE
A City Built for Wandering
Some cities reward planning. Venice rewards getting lost. The best moments often happened between locations:
• Quiet canals before breakfast.
• Tiny cafés tucked into side streets.
• Gondolas drifting through narrow waterways.
• Locals reading by the water away from the crowds.
We shot Yassine throughout the city wearing the new 3064™ Daypack 22L, blending travel functionality with a cleaner, lifestyle-focused silhouette that felt at home in Venice’s softer palette and slower rhythm.
The city constantly shifts mood depending on the time of day. Early mornings felt calm and cinematic; afternoons became dense and energetic as tourists flooded the walkways; evenings softened again under warm streetlights reflecting off the canals.
Even the commute between locations became part of the visual story.

BUILT TO MOVE
Venice quietly stress-tests travel gear. There are no easy straight lines. No cars. No quick “throw it in the trunk” moments. Everything gets carried here across bridges, onto boats, through train stations and crowded walkways. What stood out most during the shoot:
Comfort over long distances
Even fully loaded with camera gear, the 24L remained comfortable over full-day shooting sessions and station transfers.
Quick access
The sling setup allowed fast lens and battery swaps without stopping the flow of shooting.
Travel flexibility
The 3064™ Daypack 22L handled smaller plane travel easily while still carrying work essentials, tech, and day-to-day items comfortably.
Low-profile rigid design
In busy tourist areas, the bags felt clean and understated rather than overly technical or bulky, ideal for lifestyle travel environments.
Coffee / Canals / Golden Hour - Venice naturally slows production down in the best possible way.
Instead of racing between locations, the city encourages smaller moments:
• Espresso stops between setups.
• Shooting reflections in flooded alleyways.
• Waiting for boats to pass through frame.
• Grabbing candid moments on bridges.
• Late-afternoon gelato after wrapping the day.
Some of the strongest content came from simply letting the city breathe around the bags rather than over-directing scenes. By the end of the shoot, memory cards were full, step counts were slightly ridiculous, and the team was already preparing for the next stage of the trip - Florence.

TIPS VISITING VENICE
A few takeaways from the trip:
• Wake up early. Venice before 8am feels like a completely different city.
• Comfortable footwear is non-negotiable - bridges add up fast.
• Explore beyond the main tourist routes. The quieter side streets are where the city really shines.
• Pack light and organised. You’ll carry everything yourself.
• Smaller camera setups work best here. Mobility matters more than huge rigs.
• Sit down for coffee often. Venice rewards slower travel.

THE FINAL VERDICT
Venice in Motion
Venice ended up being the perfect opening chapter for the Italy trip - textured, unpredictable, beautiful, and constantly moving.
For a production team travelling city-to-city, the combination of lightweight camera systems, modular carry setups, and agile travel bags made it possible to move quickly without losing the documentary feel of the journey.
After one final gelato stop, the 3064™ Team jumped on the train south toward Florence - ready for the next chapter of the adventure.
